2026 SUMMER SAILING PROGRAM
This fun summer program explores the waters of Teague Bay and the East End of St Croix from a variety of watercraft including, Optis, ISCA’s (Sunfish,) 420's, ILCA’s (Lasers) and more. Our program strives to create a fun and safe environment where sailors can learn and come to love the sport of sailing. We emphasize the importance of teamwork, respect, and safety in daily lessons. Our number one goal is to pass on our passion for the sport to the next generation of St. Croix Sailors. Activities vary each day, and will include; sailing games, sailing-based activities, sailing excursions to nearby destinations, and more. Beginners will learn sailing basics, and experienced sailors will improve their sailing abilities and general nautical skills. No sailing experience required! This program is a graduated program. We recommend that each sailor go through the designed progression of the program, for each class of boat. Every sailor is different and our instructors will assess the skills and comfort with the level at which he/she is sailing. Depending on a sailor’s skill, competency and performance and/or depending on the number of registrants in a class, an instructor may recommend placement in a class different class from the one that the sailor was registered for. Instructors may recommend repeating classes if a sailor has not successfully mastered each skill required in that class. Open to the public ages 6- 18 If your sailor does not own their own sailing dinghy or have free access to one as a member of the St. Croix Yacht Club, then they are required to pay a boat use/facilities fee of $150. To take advantage of free use of St. Croix Yacht Club sailing dinghies during any of our programs, any sailor can become a member of the St. Croix Yacht Club, either as a Jr. member (over age 12) or as a child of parent(s) who are Members of the St. Croix Yacht Club. NOTE: Registration will be automatically canceled if payment is not received within 15 minutes of completing online registration. If registration is full, please register to the waitlist. Additional spots will be opened pending interest and instructor availability. Preference will be given to participants who can attend a full session. MISSION STATEMENT St. Croix Yacht Club Sailing Association, Inc. will provide educational opportunities for youth and adults in the community of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands through accessible educational sailing programs, and will promote amateur athletics through sailboat racing competitions and other community-based sailing events, fostering a passion for the sport of sailing while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, skills in seamanship, self-confidence, and environmental respect.
